Our approach
We guide children with a respectful Montessori approach in a bilingual environment, where they develop naturally during their most sensitive periods.
Where children’s dreams come to life
Little Dreamer — a Montessori kindergarten in Bratislava for children aged 2 to 6. Respectful approach, small groups and natural English immersion in the heart of Petržalka.
Where dreams learn to grow
We guide children with a respectful Montessori approach in a bilingual environment, where they develop naturally during their most sensitive periods.
Our preschool offers three exceptionally spacious and beautifully designed classrooms, giving children plenty of room to move, focus and grow.
Our neighborhood gives children extraordinary opportunities to move and explore — right next to us we have a large meadow, a fully equipped playground, a sandbox and a nearby forest.
Where imagination meets respect
Little Dreamer is a private bilingual Montessori preschool in Bratislava-Petržalka, in a peaceful location near Starohájska street and the Dostihová dráha racecourse. We offer half-day and full-day care for children aged 2 to 6, plus a dedicated preschool class for children about to start primary school. Our philosophy is respectful Montessori pedagogy in a Slovak–English environment — a place where imagination meets respect and the freedom to explore.
Montessori pedagogy is rooted in modern neuroscience and the belief that children learn best through movement, the senses, free choice and intrinsic motivation. In a prepared environment they naturally build concentration, independence and inner discipline grounded in order, responsibility and respect. They learn to think, not to memorize; to discover, not to imitate. Montessori is therefore not merely a method but a way of raising a child who is ready to grow, create and trust in their own dreams.
We see the respectful approach as a way of communicating that takes the child seriously, listens to their needs and at the same time offers clear, safe boundaries. We speak with children calmly, honestly and as partners, so that they learn to understand their feelings and express them without fear. We handle conflicts by guiding children — helping them name what happened, look for solutions and see the other person’s perspective. This creates an environment where children learn responsibility, empathy and relationships built on trust rather than power.
Children enter English completely naturally because their teachers speak English with them all day in real situations, not in artificial lessons. This authentic immersion supports spontaneous comprehension, natural pronunciation and confident language use. We also work with Jolly Phonics, which playfully teaches children the sounds of the letters and lays strong foundations for future reading. As a result, they pick up English easily, intuitively and with joy.
Our team is made up of certified Montessori teachers with years of experience working with children. Every teacher holds a pedagogy qualification and has a deep understanding of child development. They rely on a respectful approach that supports healthy self-confidence and a child’s natural curiosity. Thanks to their professional and human qualities, Little Dreamer is a place where children feel safe, accepted and supported.
A prepared environment for independent learning
Four areas of our program — from Montessori philosophy to spacious classrooms, the daily rhythm, and on-site clubs.
Montessori pedagogy: a scientifically grounded approach to child development
Maria Montessori was an Italian physician and developmental psychologist who created her pedagogical system from the early 20th century through systematic observation of children in different environments. She discovered that children learn most effectively during so-called sensitive periods, when they have a natural drive to develop specific skills, and that they thrive in environments that let them choose, repeat and work at their own pace.
Her findings about developmental needs — order, movement and the hands-on manipulation of real objects — are confirmed by modern neuroscience. A Montessori environment supports the emergence of deep, spontaneous concentration that appears whenever a child works with a material matched to their developmental needs.
A Montessori classroom is divided into clear areas — practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics and cosmic education — covering the main developmental domains and letting children move from concrete to abstract. Every material has a precisely defined sequence, which the teacher briefly demonstrates before letting the child work independently without interruption.
The teacher’s role is rooted in observation: watching the child’s readiness, identifying their current developmental needs and offering new activities exactly when the child is ready to master them.
Montessori culture rests on a prepared environment, precise materials and a respectful approach which together create the conditions for developing independence, the ability to concentrate and the gradual taking-on of responsibility for one’s own learning.
Our preschool works in two spacious classrooms designed to give children plenty of room for movement, independent work and uninterrupted concentration. The large space allows us to create clear work zones where children can focus without disturbing one another. They can work on floor mats, at tables or in groups, which naturally supports their preferred working position. The roominess of our classrooms also lets us use larger Montessori materials and project activities that simply wouldn’t be possible in a smaller space.
Children work with activities rooted in real everyday tasks: pouring, transferring, carrying, caring for the environment and for themselves. These tasks develop movement coordination, fine motor skills and the precise execution of each step. The child learns sequence, work organization and the ability to complete a task. Practical life lays the foundation for independence and for later work in all the other areas.
Materials isolate a single sensory element — color, shape, size, weight, sound or texture. The child learns to sort, compare and categorize information, which is the basis of logical thinking. Sensorial activities prepare the brain for mathematical and language processes. They support precision, attention and the ability to notice detail.
The child begins with concrete materials that let them grasp quantity, order and the relationships between numbers. Only after mastering the concrete level do they move on to symbols and abstract operations. The materials are arranged so the child can progress logically and independently. This approach builds a solid mathematical foundation and the ability to solve problems.
Children work with the sound analysis of words, tactile letters and materials for building vocabulary. Writing emerges naturally when the hand is ready, often before reading. Language activities support precise articulation, comprehension and the ability to express ideas. The child develops a strong foundation for reading and writing without memorization.
The Cosmic classroom has ample space for work with maps, models, experiments and project activities. Children explore geography, biology, botany, zoology, history and natural phenomena. Monthly themes — such as the human body, life cycles, the seasons or continents — complement Montessori materials with hands-on experiments and creative tasks. Working with concrete tools helps children understand relationships and processes in nature and build lasting knowledge through experience and repetition.
Snack is available throughout the morning.
Lego, Connetix, IQ games, colouring books or a toy brought from home; outdoor time when the weather allows.
We offer a variety of clubs on-site so children can take part without having to travel and without disrupting the daily rhythm. Clubs are led by external specialists and add movement, creative and music activities to the Montessori curriculum. We also organize off-site clubs such as swimming, climbing and horse riding, where children are safely transported to the venue and back. Participation is optional and paid by the parent.

Take a look inside
Two spacious Montessori classrooms, the ellipse area, a dining room and hallways — the spaces where children learn, play and rest every day.
A head start children feel for life
For preschoolers we have a dedicated classroom of just eight children, led by an English lecturer and a preschool teacher with a Montessori certification, to give them the highest-quality preparation for school. The program is more demanding, carefully structured and focused on independence, concentration and advanced English, so children start school confident and ready.
If we see that a child is gifted or needs additional stimulation, we can move them into this class earlier so they can reach their full potential.
